For this residency opener, ambient musicians John Marks and Crystal Myslajek will create an otherworldly duo of fractured vocals and sampled landscapes. Then, John C.S. Keston will share a short set of music from his album Consonant Dissonance on piano. Finally, Marks and Myslajek will lead a psychedelic drone journey featuring members of IE. ⊹ Crystal Myslajek is a multi-instrumentalist, sound artist, and collaborator. She explores deep listening, the embodiment of sound, and connection through music. Inspired by minimalism; improvisation; field recordings; and pop, post-classical, jazz, and ambient musics, she creates emotive dreamscapes and songs with spectral vocal loops and textural piano sketches. ⊹ John Marks is a Minneapolis-based artist and organizer working with experimental moving image, performance, and sound.
