The Phillips Collection partners with D.C. Jazz Fest to present a jazz soiree, featuring a selection of live music by several local music acts. Arguably the city’s best jazz trumpeter, Donvonte McCoy plays everything from go-go to bebop with a robust, earthy tone that easily squawks and soars when it comes time to fly on the solo. D.C.-based guitarist Ben Scott performs straight-ahead jazz. A recent graduate of James Madison University with a concentration in jazz studies, he blends traditional jazz styles with contemporary stylistic influences like Lage Lund and Julian Lage. DJ Ebb King delivers a blend of nostalgic hits, house, disco, hip-hop and more.
