The Out to Lunch Combo is a five-piece jazz group based in the Twin Cities. They met at the University of Minnesota in a jazz combo under the direction of Phil Hey. After each rehearsal, the group would go out to get food together. And, in an offhand quip, Phil nicknamed them the “Out to Lunch Combo. ” Today, the group plays a mix of jazz, funk, and Lauren’s originals.
