Yeison Landero

Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in Washington, College Park.

About

Yeison Landero was born in the mountains of the Colombian Caribbean, the birthplace of Cumbia. His music is grounded in the traditions of his grandfather Andrés Landero, often dubbed the “King of Cumbia.” The young Landero brings traditional cumbia into the contemporary, retaining its orientation toward syncopated, Afro-indigenous dance grooves and vibrant accordion melodies, while making the style accessible for a new generation of listeners.
