To be able to craft a whole new language whilst revolutionising jazz is something very few have accomplished. Evans and his trio created some incredible staple albums; “Portrait in Jazz", "Explorations", "Moon Beams" which are known as pivotal in both the jazz movement and jazz education to this day. His classical-styled harmonies paired with inspired Bud Powell language birthed his very recognisable language. Sprinkled throughout these albums of reimagined jazz standards lies a rather unspoken network of compositional brilliance. Evans' 1956 album "New Jazz Conceptions" shows a glimpse into his rhythmic and harmonic knowledge of jazz music, take his track "Five" for example, which takes a modernistic approach of polyrhythmic quintuplets over a standard rhythm changes form.
