Nationally acclaimed vocalist Emma Hedrick makes her Nocturne debut, joining Max Moore and his trio ( Gabe Rupe - bass and J J Mazza - drums ) for a captivating night of improvisation, collaboration, and spontaneity. Weaving together originals, reworked jazz standards, modern arrangements of Sting, John Mayer, and Dolly Parton, this night will off an engaging portrait of how the jazz art form can flourish in a 21st century context. Emma Hedrick is an award-winning jazz vocalist, composer, and bandleader from Indianapolis.She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Frost School of Music and a Master of Music from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. As a student she earned seven Downbeat Student Music Awards and made third place in the Ella Fitzgerald vocal competition. Emma has performed widely across the U.S. and Europe, from the Indy Jazz Fest and Telluride Jazz Festival, to the Jong Metropole tour of the Netherlands and Germany. Originally hailing from Georgia, Max Moore has established himself as an emerging pianist on the Denver music scene. Playing professionally since the age of 14, he attended Denver School of the Arts and went through Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, studying under and playing with Denver greats such as Eric Gunnison, Shane Endsley, Brad Goode, Paul Romaine, Greg Gisbert and Greg Harris. As both a bandleader and a sideman, Max is an active performer in the Denver jazz scene and has appeared at the Vail Jazz festival, the Five Points Jazz festival, and earned recognition by Wynton Marsalis at the Essentially Ellington competition.
