Take the Coltrane is a musical homage to the tenor titan, John Coltrane, who was born 100 years ago. Prolific UK saxophonist, Dave O’Higgins, himself hugely indebted to Trane’s legacy, will be taking the audience through a musical journey from the hard bop of the mid 50s, harmonic labyrinths & superimposition of the early 60s, through to the more spiritual and freer interpretations of the later period. The quartet with Harvey, Brown & Skelton has this stylistic breadth covered. Take the Coltrane is now in it’s 4th iteration at the PizzaExpress Live Soho - the last 3 blew the lid off!
