Although his fluent and thoughtful playing is rooted in the classic jazz genres, growing up in South London and learning from the Kinetika Bloco and the Jazz Warriors families, saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi has always had a multi-faceted outlook on music. This can be seen in the eclectic variety of artists he works and writes with, including the likes of Tom Misch, Black Midi, Blue Lab Beats, Celeste, Jason Moran, Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory & the Mercury Prize-winning Ezra Collective. In 2023, Kaidi released new music with his own band, the single ‘Real Enough’ and music video/ second single ‘Devices’, which saw him reveal his talent as a vocalist and guitarist, as well as deeply emotive lyricist and songwriter.
