Zach Howarth Quintet

Drummer and bandleader Zach Howarth returns to the Nocturne stage with his quintet (Altin Sencalar, Peter Sommer, Ben Markley, and Seth Lewis.) Zach Howarth is a new dynamic percussionist, composer, and educator based in the Denver/Boulder area. Known for his ability to blend tradition and modernity in his playing and writing, Zach has made significant contributions to the jazz and contemporary improvisational music scenes. He has performed with Art Lande, Adam Benjamin, Mimi Fox, Kevin Sun, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Des Moines Metro Opera, and other artists and ensembles across the nation. Having studied with mentors such as Greg Hutchinson, Ari Hoenig, and Justin Brown, and having been on 10+ recordings as a leader or sideman, Zach has contributed to multiple jazz, classical, alternative, metal, country, pop, and folk/Americana projects. He currently teaches at the University of Colorado, Boulder as a Graduate Teaching Assistant where he is working toward his DMA in Jazz Studies.
