His compositions and improvisations reveal a deep connection to the post-bop and modern jazz traditions, while pushing those ideas forward with fresh rhythmic and melodic nuance. With influences ranging from Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter to Mark Turner and Joe Henderson, Owen’s compositions reflect a love of both harmony and storytelling.
