Sy Smith Sy Smith This Emmy-nominated singer/songwriter has been dubbed by her peers as the "queen of underground soul”. Sy Smith is considered one of the leaders of the indie soul movement having released 6 CDs/3 EPs/1 DVD. Her latest release “Until We Meet Again” landed her on dozens of critic’s Best Of 2024 lists. She’s recorded and/or toured with some of the biggest names in R&B, hip-hop and jazz (including Whitney Houston, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Foreign Exchange, Sheila E. and Pete Escovedo). Under conductor Steven Reineke, she performed in “Sophisticated Ladies” a tribute to the iconic women of jazz at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and Massey Hall. She’s garnered two NAACP Theater Award nominations for her roles in Michael Ajakwe’s “Body Language” and “If You Don’t Believe”. Sy also co wrote and was featured on Chris Dave & The Drumhedz’ 2019 Grammy nominated self-titled album and did vocal arrangements for John Legend’s Grammy-nominated “A Legendary Christmas” album.. She currently tours with Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti and is featured prominently in his PBS special “Great Performances”.
