Inspired by legendary venues like New York’s Blue Note, London’s Ronnie Scott's we introduce Amsterdam’s Contra: the place to enjoy intimate jazz concerts from your dinner table. A chef's menu is served, accompanied by our wide selection of wines. To keep the balance between the listening experience and sharing the moment, the concert consists of 3 sets of 35-40 minutes, each followed by a break to enjoy your table, your company, and the atmosphere. This edition we welcome: Maarten Voortman trio The Maarten Voortman trio is a swinging piano trio led by Amsterdam pianist Maarten Voortman. As a player his style is adventurous, melodic and deeply personal. He has a firm grasp on the jazz repertoire, a result of dedicated practice of the bebop tradition and a fiery admiration for piano titans such as Bud Powell and Wynton Kelly. In recent years, he's ventured into more modern sounds and expressions that suit his own personal projects, the latest being Haas, a project featuring a quartet.
