About
Doors 7:45 PM, Music 8:30 PM - 2 sets of music About margomool: margomool is a British/Italian musician based in South-East London uniquely fusing jazz-inspired electronic music with hints of folk and soul. The vocalist and producer gravitates towards assorted influences, from Little Dragon to Dego to Beverley Glenn-Copeland, painting sonic worlds that sing to queer existence and empathy as a revolutionary tool. Coming from a self-taught background, margomool cultivated their practice through London’s improvisational scene, going on to collaborate with globally recognised artists such as Allysha Joy, EX Generation & Harve. They have taken their own project across the UK & Europe, sharing lineups with the likes of Sarathy Korwar and Laura Misch on stages such as Love Supreme Jazz festival. Described by Line of Best Fit as ‘convention-smashing’, margomool’s four independent releases have had international reach through support from tastemakers like Jamz Supernova, Emma-Jean Thackray and Selector Radio. Queer Jazz: Queer Jazz exists to platform, nurture and celebrate the emerging queer jazz scene. Programmed by Tina Edwards and Arowah, they have put together an exciting monthly programme of innovative LGBTQI+ artists at The Vortex Jazz Club, supported by Arts Council England.
