Mansell Plantation in Camden, MS on sharecropper land, John Primer migrated to Chicago in 1963 with a dream of performing on stage with Muddy Waters. He got his start on Chicago’s famous Maxwell Street playing for tips with Pat Rushing’s band, then getting hired at the famous Theresa’s Lounge as the house band rhythm guitarist for the great Junior Wells with Sammy Lawhorn.
