About

New Orthodox is a musical project that utilizes pedal steel guitar and voice to explore minimalist repetition, sonic experimentation and lyrical insights. Mike Kuhl is a drummer and educator hailing from Baltimore. He’s been a fixture in the city’s jazz scene for a couple decades, and is adept in a range of musical styles, spanning straight-ahead, avant-garde jazz, rock and experimental sounds. He performs alongside musician and multi-disciplinary artist Alma Laprida. Her work spans composition, improvisation, performance, installation, instrument building and radiophonic pieces.
