Bonnie Smith on vocals Romy Hernandez Carbo is a Cuban-born pianist, composer, arranger, and educator based in Melbourne. Blending jazz, Afro-Cuban music, and contemporary improvisation, her work reflects her musical roots in Havana and her artistic journey in Australia. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne, Romy has performed at major festivals including the Melbourne Jazz Festival, WOMADelaide, Queenscliff Music Festival, and Jazzlab. In 2024, she released her debut solo piano album, Poems of Bliss and Loss, exploring themes of migration, memory, and belonging. Created especially for Paris Cat's Divas Week, Mujer Latina is inspired by the artistry of iconic Cuban and Brazilian divas including Omara Portuondo, Tania Maria, Vanessa Moreno, and Daymé Arocena.
