About

A terrific singer in the Soul/R&B tradition Imaani’ s worldwide tours, television, live and studio output includes work with the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Carleen Anderson and Beverley Knight. She first came to prominence as the UK’s 1998 entrant to the Eurovision Song contest (one of the better choices!) where she was runner up, and went on to produce a highly successful single that charted around the world. She then moved on to work with Dub Conspiracy (with whom she again charted). But currently, she is probably best known as one of the featured singers with the iconic band “Incognito”, of which she’s been a member for more than 20 years. Undoubtedly one of the finest Soul singers in Europe this is a rare chance to hear this giant of the UK Soul scene with her brilliant band featuring her Special Guest, Polly Gibbons. One of the most respected and talked-about singers of her generation, Polly is a consummate performer with a rich, soulful voice and a truly distinctive style. As much at home singing tender jazz ballads as she is rockin' R&B classics, she was nominated for Vocalist of the Year by both Jazz FM and the BBC, recorded three critically acclaimed albums for US label Resonance and toured extensively, notably performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the legendary Birdland Jazz Club, NYC. In 2022, Polly fulfilled a long-standing ambition with the release of "As It Is" - her album of all-original songs written by Polly alongside co-producer and Artistic Director of Ronnie Scott’s, James Pearson. The promise of these two magnificent singers joined up together with their band is sensational indeed – not to be missed! “The magnificent vocals of Imaani” DJ Times; “Imaani…standout” JjazzproJect; "Polly Gibbons is unmistakably a class act” Guardian; "[Gibbons] A truly exceptional…talent, possessing a voice of such sizzling intensity and raw emotion you could fry an egg on it" Jazzwise
