Hosted by playwright and broadcaster Murray Horwitz, “The Song is You” is a concert exploring the roots and impact of the classic American popular song era, highlighting works by legendary composers like Duke Ellington, Fats Waller and more. Directed by percussionist Chuck Redd. The show features a host of D.C.-area jazz talent, with pianist William Knowles, bassist Herman Burney, saxophonist Scott Silbert, and vocalists Lena Seikaly and Steve Washington. Also featured is the PostClassical Ensemble, conducted by Angel Gil-Ordonez, who performs a repertoire of American music and various folk forms.
