About

Dion Hoorn alto saxophone · Casey-Joan Whyte violin · Masa Kamaguchi bass · Stephen Keogh drums This group, co-led by Casey-Joan Whyte and Dion Hoorn two young musicians of remarkable talent (aged 18 and 22, respectively)—shows that jazz is more alive than ever. Casey , who is also a classical violin soloist, has performed violin concertos with orchestra on numerous occasions, including Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3 and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. In the jazz field, she improvises at the highest level. Dion Hoorn has an impressive technique, executes lines with millimetric precision, and plays with great energy, especially on the alto saxophone. He is also an excellent bassist. Both compose their own music, part of which will be performed tonight, but the focus will be on the music and spirit of John Coltrane . Music is not limited by time, geography, or race. It points toward something that transcends divisions.
