About

Musical Style: Jazz, tribute to Bill Evans The Ivory Jones Jazz Collective is a Denver-based ensemble that has been performing together for more than five years, developing a distinctive sound rooted in the rich traditions of modern jazz. In its trio configuration, the group draws inspiration from the iconic Bill Evans Trio of the 1960s, capturing the elegance, interplay, and musical conversation that defined one of jazz's most influential ensembles. The Collective is honored to bring its interpretation of this legendary music to the stage at Dazzle. Bill Evans was a member of the Miles Davis sextet, which in 1959 recorded Kind of Blue , the best-selling jazz album of all time. Davis considered Bill Evans one of his favorite pianists. He famously praised Evans’ delicate, ethereal sound, writing in his autobiography that Evans had a “quiet fire”. Evans left the sextet to create his own group, regarded as the seminal modern jazz trio. Many of Evans’ compositions , such as Waltz for Debby and Time Remembered
