Electric Squeezebox Orchestra with Marcus Stephens

The Jazzschool in Berkeley, East Bay.

About

The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra returns to Hardymon Hall for its monthly Jazzschool residency, with saxophonist Marcus Stephens leading the band for this special July 12 performance. This 17-piece Bay Area big band brings together a powerhouse lineup of local players, composers, and arrangers for an evening of bold, modern large ensemble music. Expect original charts, deep grooves, sharp solos, and the kind of bandstand chemistry that only happens when some of the Bay’s finest musicians are in the room together. Resident Poet: Avotcja Saxophones: Kasey Knudsen, Beth Schenck, Sheldon Brown, Marcus Stephens, Charlie Gurke Trombones: Will Shannon, Patrick Malabuyo, Remee Ashley, Rich Lee Trumpets: Marvin McFadden, Max Erhardt, Chris Clarke, Edward Evans Piano: Anne Sajdera Guitar: Max Brody Bass: Lisa Mezzacappa Drums: Eric Garland The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra is the Bay Area’s own 17-piece big band, led by trumpeter Erik Jekabson, playing music composed and arranged by its members.
