Meyhouse Jazz Palo Alto in Palo Alto, South Bay.

About

Join us at Meyhouse Jazz for Kinds of Blue, featuring Mark Murphy Vocal Scholarship honoree and acclaimed jazz vocalist Andrea Claburn with the Michael O’Neill Trio. This program paints in sonic hues of blue, spanning a century of classic swing, bossa nova, and bebop compositions. From St. Louis Blues to Blue Skies to Light Blue, the evening explores the many emotional colors carried through song — from longing and reflection to elegance, warmth, and joy. A distinctive voice in the Bay Area jazz scene, Claburn is known for her expressive phrasing, warm tone, and thoughtful approach to storytelling through song. Her debut album Nightshade was named to several 2017 year-end Top 10 jazz album lists, further establishing her as a vocalist of depth and artistry. With Claburn’s expressive voice and the Michael O’Neill Trio’s refined musicality, Kinds of Blue offers an intimate and beautifully shaped journey through jazz repertoire, where the idea of “blue” becomes more than a color — it becomes a mood, a memory, and a sound.
