About

Dry Martino (alter ego of M.A. Cordero) double bass, electronics · David Pastor trumpet, electronics · Santi de la Rubia tenor sax, electronics · Toni Pagès drums, octapad, electronics Dry Martino is a contemporary jazz quartet that redefines the boundaries of the genre with a bold and innovative approach. Without traditional harmonic instruments, the trumpet, tenor sax, double bass, and drums weave a complex and fascinating rhythmic-melodic counterpoint. Their sound explores a pentatonic polytonalism rich in nuance, ranging from the energy of Frank Zappa and Chick Corea’s Electric Band to the textural depth of John Zorn and Dave Douglas . The organic incorporation of electronics in all instruments adds layers of sonority and experimentation, offering a unique and captivating listening experience. The repertoire is primarily based on original compositions by its leader, the double bassist Dry Martino .
