While a modern and contemporary group, the music composed and performed by the group is rooted in the jazz tradition. The group consisting of members JUNO-winning saxophonist Tara Davidson calls “”exceptional young musicians with very bright futures”, the 10Tet has performed across the most popular Canadian jazz venues since its inception in 2019. The ensemble features four woodwinds, two trumpets, two trombones, a pianist, bassist and drummer. This ‘mini big band’ format allows the 10Tet to have the same energy as a larger ensemble, while still focusing on creative compositions and improvisation.
