CELLAR MUSIC CELEBRATES 25 YEARS: SHARON MINEMOTO QUINTET plays SIDE A

Frankie's Jazz Club in Vancouver, Downtown Vancouver.

About

In 2026, The Cellar Music Group celebrates 25 years of documenting and championing creative music on the West Coast and beyond. For this special evening at Frankie's Jazz Club, we dig deep into the label’s history and revisit the music from just the third release in the Cellar catalogue. Originally recorded live at the legendary The Cellar Jazz Club, pianist Sharon Minemoto assembled an all-star quartet for a remarkable weekend of music-making. With the tape rolling, those performances would eventually become SIDE A a document of inspired interplay, fearless improvisation, and the spirit that helped define an era of Vancouver jazz. Joining Minemoto were Brad Turner on trumpet, the late Ross Taggart on tenor saxophone, Darren Radtke on bass, and Bernie Arai on drums. This performance is both a celebration and a rediscovery — a chance to honour the music, the musicians, and the enduring legacy of The Cellar. Sharon has assembled the original band with guest Cory Weeds on tenor saxophone for what will be a memorable night of music!
