Roscoe James Irwin Big Band (with special guests) Prolific Australian trumpeter, singer, arranger and producer Roscoe James Irwin (The Cat Empire, The Bamboos) is gathering an army of his favourite musical friends to present a Christmas special in the tradition of the days of old. The show will feature a presentation of Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite performed by Irwin’s own 15 piece Jazz orchestra, followed by a set featuring some of Melbourne’s favourite singers and instrumentalists playing selections from Ella Fitzgerald’s classic album, “Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas”, plus many more from the history of Jazz and Gospel Christmas recordings. With a host of special guests (including the enigmatic and amazing Alma Zygier), prepare for all the yuletide feels as this gang of Christmas misfits drag you along on a sleigh ride of holiday season wonderfulness.
