Michael Reed is a California-based drummer, producer, and composer steeped in traditions of funk, jazz, soul, and hip hop. His self-produced drum breaks are sought after by hip-hop and electronic producers worldwide: his work is featured on the acclaimed Breakables drum pack series (Sndtrak / Waxcartel), as well as on Maximalist Minimalisms Vol. 1 —the first installment in an ongoing library LP series under his production alias, Reed Michaels . He is an active collaborator and performer, recording and touring with a wide range of projects including The Mighty Sol 3 (Colemine Records), Call Sender (Tru Thoughts / Farfalla Records / Légère Recordings), Secret Sidewalk (Primal Dap Sound / CB Records), and The Grease Traps (Colemine Records / Record Kicks), along with assorted jazz ensembles in the San Francisco Bay Area.
