Michael Sarian Esquina / Dave Ballou and the for-tet

Michael Sarian’s 2025 project Esquina features five original compositions inspired by Miles Davis’s work with electronics and extended improvisation. Rooted in creative group interplay, Sarian integrates contemporary jazz with influences from his Armenian heritage and Argentine upbringing. For-tet is an ensemble of Maryland and Virginia-based musicians assembled at Rhizome in 2024. Composed of trumpeter Dave Ballou, bass clarinetist John Dieker, bassist Adam Hopkins and drummer Mike Kuhl, features several longtime fixtures of Baltimore and D.C. jazz and creative music scenes.
