This month, Tony Johnson is here with the Smith Dobson Quartet, a long-standing outfit for many years at the Club Deluxe before its closure a few years ago. Smith Dobson, saxophone; Keith Saunders, piano; Eric Markowitz, bass; Tony Johnson, drums. Drummer Tony Johnson has a 6X per year residency at Bird & Beckett, wrangling one band or another on the third Sunday of the even-numbered months (June, August, October, December, February, April). Tony has been a mainstay of the San Francisco jazz scene since he arrived in 1959.
