Max won 2nd place in the 2019 Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition. His debut trio recording from 2020 - "Herplusme" on Red Piano Records - featured Simon Willson and Matt Honor. His sophomore recording from 2023 - "Henceforth" on Steeplechase Records features Noah Preminger, Dan Weiss and Kim Cass. Also in 2023, Light and pianist Julian Shore released "Duo" and embarked on a release tour of Japan.
