INTRO WRITTEN BY STEVE RUBIE: As we head towards the end of the 50th Anniversary Festival I felt it was important to not only feature many of the wonderful musicians who have played here in past decades, but to also remember that there are still plenty of highly talented young performers coming through. I have a policy of booking at least two artists new to the Club every month and this afternoon we feature one of those talented artists who have benefited from that policy, the Award-winning vocalist Louise Balkwill. Though still new to the scene Louise has made a real impact in a relatively short time - it's always exciting to see real emerging talent, and Louise represents the epitome of what we try to do here. The 2022 winner of the Riga International Jazz Voice competition, Louise Balkwill has been hailed as one of the finest singers of her generation. Most recently touring with celebrated vocal harmony trio The Puppini Sisters tonight Louise will be featuring songs from her brand-new album, “Chatterbox”, a vibrant love letter to classic vocal jazz.
