Sam Rudin | Piano Charles McNeal | Saxophone Essiet Essiet | Bass Jeremy Steinkoler | Drums Bio: With the rhythmic intensity of an entire band, Sam Rudin can evoke the spirit of Fats Waller, Oscar Peterson, Mose Allison, and Jerry Lee Lewis…sometimes all at the same time. . His earliest renown was as a rip-roaring solo pianist, playing festivals throughout CA, and opening shows for bigger stars at major nightclubs. Later on he gathered some of NorCal’s finest musicians to form Hurricane Sam & the Hotshots, a band that set up shop at the intersection of Blues and Jazz. These days, Sam is best known as the owner/creator of the Back Room, a small but mighty venue in Berkeley that hosts performers from around the world. He does a monthly show there called “Sam’s Corner” which he is pleased to bring to Mr. Tipples.
