Inspired by legendary venues like New York’s Blue Note, London’s Ronnie Scott's we introduce Amsterdam’s Contra: the place to enjoy intimate jazz concerts from your dinner table. A chef's menu is served, accompanied by our wide selection of wines. To keep the balance between the listening experience and sharing the moment, the concert consists of 3 sets of 35-40 minutes, each followed by a break to enjoy your table, your company, and the atmosphere. This edition we welcome 100% Cottone! The quartet, led by bass player Mauro Cottone ,released an album of original music in 2024 and performed in prestigious venues such as the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Transition Festival, In Jazz Showcase, Bimhuis, Roode Bioscoop, What's Next Festival. The music reminds of the transgressive approach of the Bad Plus and the innovative productions of bass player and producer Petter Eldh, while the melodic song-like compositions are rooted in the alternative songwriters world.
