About
Johannes Luebbers is an Award-winning composer, arranger and pianist, best-known for the Johannes Luebbers Dectet (JLD), which was formed in Perth, and recorded two albums in 2008 and 2010. After relocating here, Luebbers formed a Melbourne edition of the group, releasing two acclaimed albums in 2021. Post-COVID, he also formed a smaller sextet ensemble to perform his original compositions. With Luebbers soon relocating back to Perth with his family, this will be a ‘farewell performance’ with this group, which features some leading improvisers, with Angela Davis (alto sax), Paul Williamson (trumpet), Callum Mintzis (trombone), Christopher Hale (acoustic bass bass), and Dylan van der Schyff Dylan (drums) joining Johannes Luebbers (piano).
