Every artist has a beginning. For Beta Rivellino, it began by listening to extraordinary women. Growing up in Brazil, she was inspired by iconic voices such as Elis Regina, Rita Lee, Astrud Gilberto, Leny Andrade, Marisa Monte. Later, after living in several countries across different continents, her musical world expanded through artists including Barbra Streisand, Nina Simone, Norah Jones, Oleta Adams, Zaz, among so many other female singers and composers. From Girlhood is a deeply personal show that weaves together Brazilian music, jazz, and international songwriting through some of the songs that accompanied her life.
