Aleks Izotov / Vaughn Ambrose

About

Alex Izotov is a D.C.-based pianist whose compositions blend traditional jazz with elements of contemporary hip-hop, ambient music, rock and lo-fi production. Also performing is straight-ahead saxophonist Vaughn Ambrose. While his style is rooted in big band and post-bop jazz traditions, he can easily move between R&B, funk and classical, having played with the Yellowjackets, Jon Faddis, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin and more. They perform as part of “Jazz at the Kramer,” a series presented by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County in partnership with Paul Carr’s Jazz Academy of Music.
