The unusual instrumentation (French horn and tuba included), and original arrangements produced a unique, lush sound not really heard before. In 2006, Melbourne trumpeter Gianni Marinucci formed his nonet for a performance of this wonderful music at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass. After the success of that concert, the Gianni Marinucci Nonet has gone on to delight audiences with its performances of this classic repertoire from the life of Miles Davis.
