About

Inspired by legendary venues like New York’s Blue Note, London’s Ronnie Scott's we introduce Amsterdam’s Contra: the place to enjoy intimate jazz concerts from your dinner table. A chef's menu is served, accompanied by our wide selection of wines. To keep the balance between the listening experience and sharing the moment, the concert consists of 3 sets of 35-40 minutes, each followed by a break to enjoy your table, your company, and the atmosphere. A dinner ticket includes a table reservation. Only coming for the music and a drink? Then buy a regular ticket or (if you're a student or max. 25 years old) a student ticket. This edition we welcome Abigaël Ama! Abigaël Ama is a composer, violinist, and singer whose music blends the freedom and improvisation of jazz with the intimacy, simplicity, and storytelling of folk music. Her sound is deeply personal and emotional, exploring themes of memory, grief, love, and letting go. During her studies at Berklee Valencia, Abigaël shared her musical journey with guitarist Henry Galli and bassist Jorge Cabezas, with whom she continues to develop her musical language and bring her music to the stage. This year, Abigaël has performed as a support act for Brazilian singer Leo Middea and celebrated the release of her debut album, Vueltas, with a sold-out release show at Ruigoord in Amsterdam. Vueltas is an intimate exploration of memory, grief, love, and surrender — a journey back to her roots and an invitation to reflect on what we have lived through, understand who we are, and perhaps learn how to let go.
