About

Janoušek–Wróblewski Quartet Thursday 06/08/2026 from 21:00 Janoušek–Wróblewski Quartet (JWQ) is a Czech band that has existed with the same lineup for eleven years. The ensemble was formed from the collaboration of two long-time bandmates, trombonist Štěpán Janoušek (Skety, MarZ, Jazzdock Orchestra, Farma v Jeskyni) and saxophonist Michal Wróblewski (E Converso, Toša, Karm, Futur Swing), who have been playing together since their studies. Both musicians also compose for the band. They are joined by a precise and creative rhythm section: Miloš Klápště on double bass and Jan Chalupa on drums. Their music is built on witty, punchy compositions through which the band travels across all conceivable genres, with dominant echoes of avant-garde American jazz and Czech brass-band traditions. All of this is interwoven with boundless, unbridled improvisation. This combination makes the group an original ensemble whose concerts are always an exceptional experience. JWQ has recorded two albums and has performed at various festivals and clubs in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Serbia
