Jakuta, Anglo/Brazilian rock, folk and blues

The Emmet Ray in Toronto, College Street.

About

Jakuta, Anglo/Brazilian rock, folk and blues Jakuta is a band that blends rock, blues, indie, and dance with the rhythms and grooves of regional Brazilian music. Having met in music school, sharing a love for rock, indie dance, reggae and punk, Vítor (guitar/voice), Caleb (drums) and Ryan (bass) began jamming together, working on original songs. Vítor, inspired by his own roots, the rhythms of North-Eastern Brazil, the music of Gilberto Gil, and the Tropicalia movement, has been turning his friends on to Música Popular Brasileira, to great success! With Andrés (keys), the group is reinforced and ready to show the broader Toronto public a different look at Brazil. Past Copacabana, up in the hills, the backcountry, between Salvador and Chicago, detour to London and back home. Vítor Pena Gomes – Guitar, vocal Caleb Eskins – Drums Ryan Sullivan – Bass Andrés Mendivelso – Keys/piano
