About

Dumpstaphunk guitarist Ari Teitel and Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch join forces with rising organist Sam Fribush for this ultra-funky update of the venerated organ trio format. Their two nights in the Joe Henderson Lab will stoke a deep groove conflagration with a selection of music from their debut Another Side of the Sound — a mix of vintage organ funk and hip-hop production that Goldmine called “one big ball of musical greatness.” A project born of the deep-rooted connection between Teitel and Fribush, who met as aspiring musicians in New Orleans, DTF came together with the enlistment of Deitch, a GRAMMY-nominated rhythm master and producer known far and wide for his work with Lettuce, John Scofield, DJ Quik, and Ledisi. Fribush brings a wealth of experience with Charlie Hunter, Hiss Golden Messenger and California Honey Drops to the band, while Teitel’s guitar is steeped in New Orleans soul thanks to his work in the Mardi Gras Indian funk powerhouse The Rumble. The band’s 2025 debut, Another Side of the Sound , features a mix of original compositions and eclectic covers, including a soulful rendition of The Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider," and a reimagining of Bel Biv DeVoe’s 1990 new jack swing hit "Poison."
