Drawing inspiration from the sounds of George Benson, Al Jarreau and George Duke, Cappuccio Collective Smooth brings the smooth jazz of the 1970s and 1980s into the present! Led by Italian guitarist and producer Mimmo Cappuccio, the ensemble combines memorable melodies and laid-back grooves with elements of soul, funk, disco and fusion. Joining them as a special guest is renowned Italian bassist Dario Deidda , one of the country's sought-after jazz musicians. Since its formation, the collective has established itself through performances at Italian jazz clubs and festivals, as well as collaborations with internationally acclaimed musicians. These include Brazilian drummer Ramon Montagner, American vibraphonist Mark Sherman and saxophonist Eric Daniel. With its releases “Cappuccio Collective Smooth” (2024) and “Breathe” (2025), the ensemble pursues a musical approach that leaves the boundaries between jazz, soul and popular instrumental music deliberately open. Mimmo Cappuccio comes from the Italian province of Caserta and began his musical training on guitar and electric bass before studying jazz harmony, arranging and composition. Alongside his musical development, he built a long-standing career as a music producer and sound engineer, gaining professional experience in Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States. His production credits and collaborations include projects with Riccardo Fogli, Gatto Panceri and Jean-Michel Byron, the former lead singer of the rock band Toto. With Cappuccio Collective Smooth, he eventually brought his own vision of contemporary smooth jazz to life.
