Jazz in the Parks outdoor concert returns to The Parks at Historic Walter Reed, offering an evening of jazz and music programming for all ages. Baltimore-based pianist and community activist Rockwell Shapiro puts a lot of influences into his music, as tends to be the case for younger generations of jazz musicians. His arrangements and originals are surely recognizable as lush contemporary jazz with little crooks of angular modern harmony, but he also takes textures and timbres from rock, electronic, and world music.
