DCJF: A Night of Stars feat. Gregory Porter, The String Queens

The Anthem in Washington, The Wharf.

About

The powerful voice of Gregory Porter, can run from limpid to barbed and straining — but he’s always deliberate, always in control. As a songwriter, he will toss your mind back to the classic, gospel-influenced soul of the 1960s; and his delivery and projection will put you in the pew. The String Queens is a trio composed of violinist Kendall Isadore, cellist Élise Sharp and violist Dawn Johnson. They perform a repertoire ranging from baroque to straight-ahead jazz to contemporary pop. Porter, with the String Queens opening, headlines a DC Jazz Festival benefit for its education programs: A Night with the Stars.
