Brian Ho | Organ Sylvia Cuenca | Drums Dann Zinn | Sax Dann Zinn is a true game changer, taking jazz in bold new directions. A world-class saxophonist and flutist, he is renowned as a passionate soloist and accomplished composer-arranger. Hailed as “inventive” and “distinctive,” Zinn creates stunning, deeply emotional listening experiences. His singular tone and expressive voice set him apart as a one-of-a-kind artist on today’s jazz scene. Over his career, Zinn has worked and recorded with an extraordinary range of artists, including Omar Hakim, Rachel Z, Peter Erskine, Mike Stern, Taylor Eigsti, Dave Eshelman, Derrick Hodge, Cuong Vu, Mary Wells, and many others. He has appeared on numerous recordings and produced six albums as a leader, including Shangri La , which DownBeat awarded four stars and named one of 2015’s best albums. His release Day of Reckoning (Origin Records) earned international acclaim, and Two Roads features Rachel Z, Omar Hakim, and Jeff Denson. Zinn has toured worldwide, performing at premier venues and festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, Smalls in NYC, and Yoshi’s. Brian Ho began playing piano at the early age of five taking lessons at both Stanford and San Jose State. By the age of sixteen, he began to play in bands professionally and started teaching piano. After his college years spent studying music at UC Davis, he decided to pursue his love of music as a leader, composer, and arranger. Brian now leads his own group on the Hammond Organ and is an in demand sideman. While Brian still stays rooted in the tradition of classic Hammond Organists such as Jimmy Smith, Shirley Scott, and Jack Mc Duff; with his vast knowledge of styles and influences he has developed his own unique and modern take on organ jazz. Sylvia Cuenca is an active drummer on the New York and SF Bay Area jazz scenes who is contributing outstanding performances in a variety of situations. She has had the honor of sharing the bandstand with saxophone legend Joe Henderson for 4 years and trumpet legend Clark Terry for 17 years. The Joe Henderson quartet toured frequently in European countries Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, England, Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany and venues across the U.S. In a trio setting she performed with Joe Henderson and Charlie Haden in 1989 and with George Mraz in 1994. She performed with the Clark Terry Quintet and Big Band at Village Vanguard, Birdland, Blue Note, Queen Elizabeth 2, Royal Viking, S.S. Norway jazz cruises and clubs, concerts and festivals in the U.S, Europe, the Caribbean and South America. While working with the Clark Terry quintet she had the opportunity to perform with guest artists Al Grey, Red Holloway, Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Marian McPartland, Dianne Reeves, Joe Williams and Lou Donaldson to name a few.
