Ian Shaw with Tony Kofi

About

Twice winner of a BBC jazz award, saxophonist Tony Kofi is without doubt one of the truly unique and ground-breaking players on the European scene. Cutting his teeth with Tomorrow’s Warriors and Grand Union Orchestra, and a prolific Monk enthusiast, Kofi was profiled by BBC Radio 4 about his early years and the life-changing event that led him to playing saxophone. Tonight, Shaw and Kofi explore the beauty and adventure of both their influences. Hear these two old friends weave their magic through Ellington, Strayhorn, Rogers and Hart - as well as some funkier more contemporary songs.
