Steve Langone Group Mad Monkfish Concert Series June 10, 2026 7pm Steve Langone Group plays original jazz/world music, led by veteran drummer Steve Langone, featuring vocals, sax, guitar, piano & bass. Steve Langone Group Personnel: Steve Langone, drums & composer Asa Runefuelt, vocals Andy Voekler, sax Phil Sargent, guitar, Doug Johnson, piano, John Lockwood, bass Steve Langone Group performs Steve’s original compositions influenced by jazz and world music. Steve is a great friend of the owner of The Mad Monkfish, who tries to hire him as often as possible. NOTE: Immerse yourself in the cozy atmosphere of the Jazz Baroness Room at The Mad Monkfish, where you can sip your favorite drink, savor sushi or Thai cuisine, and enjoy the mesmerizing sounds of a remarkable jazz ensemble. Whether you're a seasoned jazz aficionado or simply seeking a delightful night out, this event promises to be a treat for your senses. To keep this vibrant jazz scene alive, we require a minimum spend of $25 per person , since all ticket proceeds go directly to the musicians. If a guest spends less than $25, the difference will be added to the check—this small gesture helps us keep the restaurant running and the music flowing. We’re grateful for your support—it’s what keeps the spirit of live jazz alive here at The Mad Monkfish. Together, we can keep the music playing! BIO: For the past 25 years Steve Langone has been performing in clubs, festivals, and recording studios. His versatility has allowed him to work in many different genres of music. Some of the artists and groups Langone has performed with include the Jinga Trio and Quartet, Shawnn Monteiro with the Mike Renzi Trio, Claudio Ragazzi Quartet, Greg Piccolo and Heavy Juice, the NDR Big Band, the Boston Pops, Suede, and the Kevin Harris Project, among many others. Langone has also worked with country singer John Carter Cash, and comedians Joe Piscopo and Joan Rivers. He has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Albania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, China, South Korea, and Oman. Langone can also be found on over 50 recordings as a sideman to such artists as Nando Michelin, Jinga Trio, Enclave, Gilson Schachnik, Kevin Harris, Shawnn Monteiro, New Stablemates, and Mili Bermejo, to name a few. He has three recordings as a leader: Finders Keepers, Six, and Steve Langone Group. Langone endorses Canopus Drums, Bosphorus Cymbals, and Vic Firth Sticks. Langone has also recorded various soundtracks for National Geographic, Sesame Street, and the Miramax film Next Stop Wonderland. For those who can't make it to the Jazz Baroness Room, Monkfish now streams live all of its performances on their Facebook page . 1st Show: 7:00-8:15pm and 2nd Show: 8:45-10:00pm Tim Ray, piano Ehud Ettun, acoustic bass Rafael Barata, drums Tim Ray’s wide-ranging skills as a soloist and accompanist have afforded him the opportunity to perform with legendary performers from all walks of music. Appearing on over 80 recordings to date, Tim has performed in concert with an extensive list of pop music icons, notably Tony Bennett, Lyle Lovett, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Jane Siberry and Soul Asylum. He regularly performs with leading figures in the jazz world, among them Gary Burton, Esperanza Spalding, Phil Woods, John Patitucci, Scott Hamilton, Dave Douglas, Brian Blade, Lewis Nash and Rufus Reid, and his classical credits include solo performances and concerts with Gunther Schuller, the Boston Pops and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Tim’s busy schedule has included frequent tours throughout the Americas, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and has included performances at Carnegie Hall, the White House, the Kennedy Center and the 1992 Presidential Inauguration. Tim has also performed repeatedly on national TV and radio broadcasts, including “The Tonight Show”, “Late Night with David Letterman,” and “Austin City Limits”. He has several solo and trio recordings to his credit as a leader - his latest CD release, titled “Windows”, was released on the Whaling City Sounds label in 2016, and features John Lockwood (bass) and Mark Walker (drums). He is a grant recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts, and is currently on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music. Bassist Appleman left the band in 1985 to become Chairman of the Bass Department at Berklee College and was replaced by veteran bassist John Lockwood . Bob Gullotti passed away in 2020 and is remembered as one of the greatest jazz drummers of his generation. Francisco Mela, now on drums, graciously fills the space Bob left behind. Along with their impressive tenure with The Fringe, Garzone, Lockwood, and Mela are in great demand as session players and have played with many of the greats of contemporary jazz. Along with keeping up with a busy performance schedule, each of them are well-respected educators helping to inspire the jazz musicians of tomorrow.
