His latest album, Radiance, reflects the results of his search. It is an exuberant expression of the jazz piano trio tradition: music at the crossroads of beauty and groove. Synthesizing elements of soul jazz, boogaloo, blues and funk, with singable melodies and a touch of modern harmony, the music is satisfyingly listenable while still substantial and genuine. Keyboardist and composer Bennett Paster is known in the NYC music scene as a creative and versatile musician. He has toured nationally and internationally, including at the Umbria Jazz Festival and for the U.S. State Dept/Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has performed with eminent jazz and blues stars, including Wallace Roney, Keb Mo’ & Kurt Elling, and he has released nine albums as a leader or co-leader. With his fluent pianism, a distinctive musical voice, and effortless melodicism, Paster reinvents and carries the jazz tradition into the future.
